In 2021 Ilaké workshop has made six prints of Damien Gernay designer’s Ocean Sunset. They were made by thermoforming glass discs on a mold representing the marine relief, then gilded with leaf by an artisan gilder with six different shades of gold, ranging from green to pink.
This 90cm diameter piece transcribes the relief of the sea; its model was designed using 3D imaging and printing technologies. Then comes the traditional know-how of molding (a mold weighing more than sixty kilos), glass cutting, thermoforming. Then each piece of glass is gilded with leaf by an artisan gilder.
